About the event

Zarif's play

A sarcastic traditional festive play that raises the topic of greed and the love of money at the expense of morals. Thirty charming puppets, namely glove, stick and string puppets, participate in their roles. Full of imagination, colours, fun, singing, music, adventures, engagement with the audience and high-tech techniques.

Our cute hero, “Zarif,” is a poor yargul player who strives to win the approval of the rich “Abu Al-Abd” so that he can marry him to his cute daughter, “Zarifa.” Will Zarif fail or will he succeed in meeting all of Abu al-Abd’s impossible conditions through which Abu al-Abd intends to get rid of this poor artist, the most difficult of which was when he asked him to go to the Valley of the Snakes to bring snake skins from which he would make a dress for Zarifa? These are just a few of what you will see and hear.

Zarif has performed hundreds of shows in the country and participated more than once in the International Puppet Festival in Jerusalem. She participated in the International Puppet Festival in Italy.

*The yargul, ergul, or flute is a traditional Arabic musical instrument with a beautiful and passionate sound. It is used by the piper at weddings and in dabke circles. It is made of reeds. It has two reeds, one short with holes and the other long without holes.
